Scientists
and researchers worked all night collecting samples on a transect that
started off the northwestern coast of the Queen Charlotte Islands and
is headed for the southeastern tip of the islands. The water is
quite deep for being so close to shore. This may lower the iron
content of the water through upwelling, a rising of seawater.
The sun is shining, and land is in clear view. We are within
a mile of shore, and the snow capped peaks are stunning.
Orca whales basked on the port side as the ship slowly headed
southeast.
Sailing is smooth on the calm waters. Life science continues.
